Add merge fields into email body and subject lines

Merge fields should be usable in automatic email subject lines and body.
I want to send an automatic thank you and google review link to client emails upon closing a matter. I can set up the automation, but I can't get merge tags to populate in the body of the email. It would be nice to be able to do this.

Can this be re-opened? Even though this isn't my post I would love to see this feature added. I think he may have meant merge tags that can be added to the subject of an email and not just in the body of the email? I would also add custom fields being added to email body and subject line, as the merge tags that are allowed to be used are limited and do not include our custom fields.

Ashley N. Cloud: Thanks for bringing this up — this is a great callout and aligns with what many firms have been asking for.
We’ve made an update in today’s release to improve how merge tags work in email subject lines. You can now use standard Lawcus fields (like Matter, Contact, Invoice, etc.) directly in the subject line, not just in the email body.
This means you can dynamically generate subject lines such as:
Matter Name
Matter Number
Open Date
And other default system fields
That said, you’re absolutely right about custom fields — currently, merge tags are limited to standard Lawcus fields.
👉 We’ve noted your request and are actively working toward expanding this to include custom fields in both the email subject and body, so you can fully tailor communications to your firm’s workflows.

You can use any simple screen recording tool (such as Loom or your system’s built-in recorder) and share the video link or file with us.
You can email the recording directly to us at devanshi@lawcus.com.
This will help us reproduce issues more accurately and get to a resolution much faster.
