Customize Your Matter, Lead & Contact Header
We’re working on giving firms more control over what information is visible at the top of every Matter, Lead, and Contact.
Today, the top bar shows standard fields like Matter Number, Client, Pipeline, and Stage.
We’re exploring the ability for your firm to choose what fields appear there, so your team can see what matters most — instantly.
What You’ll Be Able to Do
Choose which fields appear in the top bar
Reorder them based on priority
Add a second line for additional information
Keep your most important data always visible
Custom Fields Support
We’re also considering allowing your custom fields to be added to the top bar.
To keep the layout clean and fast, only certain field types would be supported:
Supported Field Types (Best for Top Bar)
Text (single line) → Short labels, references
Number → Values like budgets, counts
Date → Key dates (e.g., filing date, deadline)
Pick List → Status, priority, categories
Checkbox → Yes/No indicators
Lookup Fields → Client, Matter, Assigned User
⚠️ Not Supported (for clarity & space reasons)
Multiline text (too large)
Multiple contacts/users (too cluttered)
Large or complex data fields
🤔 We’d Love Your Input
What fields would you want to see at the top?
Would you use custom fields in this area?
Would a second line of fields be useful for your workflow?

Edit matter phase in "info" page

The matter view update is nice, but I want to be able to change a matter stage right in the info page by clicking on the "pipeline" or "Stage" and choosing another pipeline or stage.

Yes being able to add custom fields to the top would be great, and especially to hide custom fields altogether. When in the custom fields settings, it would be great to created a "Hidden custom field" setting that could function within practice area.
Oh, and if there was a "Days Until" field....if court or a signing meeting is 2 weeks away, displaying a date is great, but having the optoin to show a "Days until" court hearing, would be awesome. (Especially if we could trigger automations if a "Days until" met certain conditions.

Andrew Rowe: Feature: Customize Matter Top Fields
Lawcus now lets firm admins control which key matter fields appear directly under the matter title.
This gives every firm a cleaner, more useful matter header by showing the information that matters most to your team without needing to scroll or open additional sections.
What this helps with
Instead of every matter showing a fixed set of fields, admins can now decide what should appear at the top of the matter page.
For example, your firm may want quick access to:
Matter Number
Client
Pipeline
Stage
Open Date
Responsible Timekeeper
Related Contact
Billing Type
These fields can now be arranged in the order your firm prefers.
How it works
Admins can open the Edit top fields option and choose which fields should appear under the matter title.
Fields can be added from the left panel and arranged on the right.
You can organize the fields into:
Row 1 — Primary fields
Best for the most important information your team checks often, such as Matter Number, Client, Pipeline, and Stage.
Row 2 — Secondary fields
Best for supporting details, such as Open Date, Responsible Timekeeper, Related Contact, and Billing Type.
The live preview at the top shows how the matter header will look before applying the changes.
Admin-controlled for consistency
This setting is available to admins only because the changes apply across the firm.
Once applied, all users will see the same organized matter header, helping keep the experience consistent across matters and teams.

It would be great to pin information in the left side bar as well. both for matters and for contacts/leads

Gabriel Barreto:Hi Gabriel,
Thank you for sharing this feedback.
This makes a lot of sense for Client Intelligence. Since this is client-level information, our current focus is to make it available on the Contact top bar so users can easily see important client details without having to open multiple sections.
We see this as a way to give firms better visibility into key client information directly from the contact record, where it is most relevant.
Once we see how firms adopt and use this, we plan to enhance it further by introducing firm-level rules that can also apply at the matter level.
We appreciate you sharing this idea. It helps us shape Client Intelligence in a way that is practical and useful for day-to-day firm workflows.
Best,
The Lawcus Team
